HGV Technician
At S Norton & Co Ltd, we are proud to be one of the country's leading metal recycling companies. 

As a HGV Technician, you will be based at our Liverpool site and join the Transport Maintenance department. The department ensures all vehicles are maintained to VOSA standards for all HGV vehicles, trailers, company cars and vans across the company and this position will report to the Maintenance Team Leader.

Summary of Duties:

Whilst the job role is based in Liverpool, from time to time the job holder will be required to work at our other company sites

Key Responsibilities:

•Service and inspect all vehicles to VOSA standard 
•Diagnose and rectify any faults that may arise 
•Identify and order parts as and when required
•Participate in the depot call out rota
•Carry out breakdown when necessary
•To complete and maintain all documentation on the company’s vehicle maintenance system
•To make written and/or verbal reports to line managers as required
•To attend progress meetings with line managers as and when required
•Carry out any additional duties that may be reasonably requested from time to time
•To comply with company policies and procedures as defined in the Employee manual and the post holders’ terms & particulars of employment

Essential Skills:

•Proven track record of working in a comparable role
•NVQ level 3 or above in HGV mechanics
•The ability to strip down components and rebuild
•Knowledge and experience of inspection methods/processors
•Knowledge and experience of statutory vehicle inspection requirements
•IT Literate with the ability to use a range of packages applicable to the role, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (emails)
•Full UK driving licence
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Desirable Skills 

•HGV class 2 or 1 Licence
•Forklift truck licence
•The ability to work in a clean room environment
•IRTEC qualified
•Relevant training on Hiab/Multi-lift equipment
•Welding and hot work knowledge/experience
•Ability to utilise/understand diagnostic equipment (preferably Jaltest)

Hours: 43.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 07:45 - 17:00
